Sport US Open: Novak Djoković is Player of the Day

by Sasha on September 3, 2008

Not feeling well during yesterday’s match, Novak Djoković still defeated Spain’s Tommy Robredo in another nearly four hour match and is noted as the Player of the Day on the US Open site. Next he will face Andy Roddick in the Friday quarterfinals. Novak in an interview earlier in the week said all the traveling since Beijing in so many different time zones took a bit of a toll on him and he didn’t feel quite as rested up as he should be going into the US Open. He has been really looking forward to the US Open because of his performance last year and his win in Australia. He feels very comfortable on the courts in New York and so far, even though he’s experienced some tough matches, he is showing his top skills in getting the wins. He is a bit worried going into the quarterfinal against Roddick that he his not at 100% physically. Hopefully he can get some rest and pull off a win to advance to Saturday’s semi-finals on Sep. 6.
